The first thing I would like to say here is that, unfortunately, gymnastics classes for adults are not that easy to find. To be fair, as I moved for work to different places, that was one of the ‘big’ requirements of a place I’d agree to go…
However, you can always try to find something close to gymnastics. Not the same, I know, but still. Trampoline parks would be my first try, they often have some classes, then trampoline classes for adults are more a less a similar thing. If you don’t have those, there are circus alternatives. Here you can read about some of the classes I’ve taken:
Second, it’s not always easy to learn gymnastics as an adult. Some people find it easy, some, like me, do not. It’s often very-very-very frustraiting since I’m usually good with sports. And it’s usually a mental problem, I have all sorts of fears and mental blocks which take me ages to overcome… And it makes it even more annoying how easily it comes to some 🙂 I learned a standing backflip about a year and a half after I’ve started my gymnastics classes. Had it for a week or two 🙂 Then the Christmas break came and I’ve lost my backflip over it. Could never get it back, and it’s been years… Just absolutely scare of the thing… What I mean is, it’s important to be patient and ignore other people’s progress. I myself am horrible at it, but nevertheless, I do advice it 🙂 I’ll probably write about breaking mental blocks somewhere:)
I’d never had as many injuries as I’ve had since I started gymnastics. You need to be ready for it. Having said that, I do know people who survived well without any 🙂 I’ve had my ankles, wrists, knees, elbows, fingers sprained, really nasty back pains, etc. Just be careful. There are things that might help – I have these wrist guards (not an add lol, I really love them) and they saved me a lot of wrist pain 🙂
I’ll get bash to this page if something else comes to mind.
But my main gymnastics advice is – HAVE FUN 🙂 !
