That I think is the most awesome activity that I’ve ever done and was totally in love with it! I took classes for several months off and on when I was living in London, at Gorilla Circus. They hold their classes outside in summer and inside in winter. There was also that one class I took at Yota flying trapeze school, which is located in Moscow, but happened to visit my hometown at the same time as I was visiting my family. I got a really cool video out of it since my brother had a drone ๐
These classes are awesome! You actually swing in the air while trying to perform all kinds of tricks! Absolutely scary, of course! It is not easy, strong abs and arms (I’m so lucky to have them thanks to gymnastics ๐ ) help a lot, yet I do think everyone can try it! Whether you take several classes or just one for fun (it’s probably an awesome present to give someone ๐ )
That video at the top right is my first class! And there were two or three of us out of 6ish that managed to do a catch on our first day! So it’s absolutely doable to have a cool video in one class ๐ And of all the classes I’ve attended, there was only one person who was too scared to jump off and had to go down…
So, how does it work… When you come for your first class, you get the instructions, try to just hang and hang upside down on a stationary bar, then you climb up at try to repeat it on a swinging bar. There is a safety net below at you’re held by the safety lines. Even if you let the bar go you won’t drop like a stone, safety lines will slow you down as you fall to the safety net. It is still very very very very scary, but so much adrenaline and fun ๐
At the and of the class one of the coaches climbs up to the catching position and tries to catch you ๐ Which is the coolest part. And, of course, success depends on both of you!
Then, if you decide to keep coming, you learn new moves you can do before letting the trapeze go. Professionals can do awesome stuff, check out here!
So, I miss these classes so much, but that’s not a thing that can be found everywhere, unlike some of the other activities I’ve tried… Unfortunately, I can only hope to move somewhere that has flying trapeze next time ๐
But I would totally recommend anyone who can try it! Even just once for fun ๐
